This looks great! I especially like that you left the actual mantel in the wood tone. It gives it more authenticity and warmth than just painting everything. Good eye.

Looks great Cindy! I've painted over paneling several times before (in my own homes) it make a huge difference when time or budget doesn't allow for any kind of replacement. Although I will say it's a pain to do.
Unfortunately I see a lot of paneling in our market place. You are right, painting it is always the least expensive way to fix it's out dated look.

It is interesting that I read this today. Just last night as my husband and I were watching a kitchen make-over on television, he mentioned how much more he liked out livingroom since we had painted the paneling. It is so much brighter and more cheerful. I love paint!

Looks fabulous! Unlike when painting over wallpaper, painted paneling always looks better than it did before.

This looks great Cindy and there are sooo many houses in my area with this type of paneling. While it may have been popular 20 + years ago, it looks dated and dark.. Painting brings it into the right (and light) decade!
