Register online for the race in the "Sprinting in Spirit" category, and we will mail you a "Spirit" packet consisting of a Sprint for Life t-shirt, commemorative 10th Anniversary Sprint for Life pin and shoelaces - everything you need to show your Sprint spirit on race day - no matter where you are! We will also let others know that you are with us in spirit by posting your name on our special "Spirit Board." About Sprint for Life
Sprint for Life was founded in 1998 by the late Laura Lee Scurlock Blanton, who led her own courageous battle against ovarian cancer, and her physician, Dr. Judith Wolf.  Since its inception, Sprint for Life has raised over $1 million to support the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program, which leads the nation in innovative research into the causes, prevention, detection and treatment of ovarian cancer.

2007 Sprint for Life Leadership
This year we are fortunate to have Eddy Blanton, son of Laura Lee Scurlock Blanton, and his wife Kelli as honorary chairs.  Co-chairs are Wendy Davis Schmitz & Kimberly Davis Sperling, daughters of the late Sandra G. Davis.  Mrs. Blanton and Mrs. Davis are the courageous women for whom the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program is named.

Do you know the symptoms of ovarian cancer?
Because symptoms of ovarian cancer may be very subtle, in 75% of cases this cancer is not discovered until it has already spread beyond the ovary, making it the leading cause of death among gynecological cancers. Symptoms may include: 

• Abdominal pain or swelling
• Bloating and/or a feeling of fullness
• Unexplained weight gain or loss
• Frequency and/or urgency of urination
• Change in bowel habits
• Indigestion, gas, nausea or other stomach problems that can't be explained by another cause
• Abnormal or post-menopausal bleeding

See your physician if any symptom persists for more than 2-3 weeks.  An evaluation should include a pelvic and rectal exam, a CA125 blood test and a transvaginal ultrasound.
