Yes, the unenviable task of being put in between a husband and wife that don't agree on anything. She wants granite, he doesn't want to spend the money. She wants new carpet, he thinks it looks fine. She wants to paint the purple bathroom a taupe, he likes the color purple. She wants new furniture, he thinks it 's finally broken in and comfortable. Does this sound familiar? As home stagers, and Real Estate Agents, we are often put on the spot in between spouses, as well, mediators if you will. We try to find a balance and happy median for both. They both have their reasons and a purpose for what they want, they just don't see eye to eye. Be ready to have solutions that will be agreeable for both husband and wife. If you explain the rationale of the "why" both parties will hopefully see it in a different light and come to an agreeable decision. Sometimes, it just takes a third parties point of view and you have to agree to disagree.

Well, sounds very familiar. I'm not get in the middle of the wife and husband, or get des, but will try to pint out some advantages of one way or another. Good Luck!
This is very common Cindy. Staging Professionals are the answer! I find it extremely valuable to have a Staging Pro offer opinions before listing a home. My clients might not agree with me or their spouse, but they generally listen to the third party. Great post!
Usually the wife wins!
Aloha Cindy,
Well I have to confess that I have been there. I had one couple on vacation over here in Hawaii. I showed them some homes and we went back to my office. The husband stated that he thought that all the homes were loser's and the next thing I knew they were screaming at each other. The wife told the husband to get the hell out of there and go back to the hotel. He did and she bought a home in Hawaii. Welcome to the wild and wacky world of real estate.
As Professional psychologists Home Stagers we know how to help deal with these situations so the fights don't elevate to either divorcing each other or turning Linda Blair on their Realtor.
Hi Cindy - Yes, doesn't that seem to happen often? As Home Stagers, we are usually the calm professional who acknowledges both views and try our best to create balance for everyone....oh, and balance for the home too! Regards-Kathleen G
Yes, the explanation that staging is not for the current owner, but for the future buyer often helps. Good post.
Sounds like a marriage counseling course would help as a stager.
It's funny when the comment of "See I told you so!" pops up between spouses during a consultation. It is best to remain professional and not take sides.
