Hotel Surplus Stores Around Country

If you are lucky enough to live in one of these areas you probably know about about these hotel surplus stores.

A regular shopper at Hotel Surplus Outlet in Van Nuys, knows what savvy decorators, property stagers and set designers try to keep secret: that a hotel renovation means truckloads of used but often ultra-chic furniture are headed for liquidation.

Used hotel furniture is flooding the market, proving a boom for liquidators and homeowners looking to decorate on the cheap.

Owner of Hotel Surplus Outlet in Los Angeles, says his warehouse and showroom are overflowing with good furniture, and he's finding plenty of customers to take it off his hands. His firm cleared out the Beverly Hilton Hotel's 570 rooms last fall and will soon work on the high-end Regent Beverly Wilshire.

IRCA sold in sets "by room" - with beds, armoires, end tables, artworks and lamps - costs were about $400 per room.

An attorney in Fort Lauderdale, says he decorated the three houses he owns mostly with the furnishings from Cash Liquidations, a store near Atlanta. He recently bought a Henredon TV credenza for $450. It would cost about $3,000 new, he says.

HI Cindy, Funny, I have never thought of that! I happened to be in the City the last day the Plaza was selling out but just picked up a few things to remember it by. But I didn't know they had places like this. Thank you for the information!

Cindy, When we lived in Las Vegas there were more than a few places with this kind of merchandise. I still own a wonderful club chair from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. There is a tag under the cushion stating it was designed especially for that business. It is good to have these locations noted. Thanks for the great post.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS INFORMATION...I ALSO DID NOT THINK OF THIS AVENUE BUT IM THRILLED TO SEE THAT THERE IS A WAREHOUSE IN CLEARWATER SO CLOSE. I CAN'T WAIT TO CHECK IT OUT FOR BARGAINS. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE SOME SMALL PIECES TO CREATE AN "OFFICE SCENARIO" WHICH MY INVENTORY IS LACKING.

The Clearwater site closed up several months ago....though I am not sure why. I had been there a few times and wasn't impressed. A good bit of the stuff was dirty and well used. All of their sofas and loveseats were hideabeds so that made them heavy to carry. They did have some rattan chairs that were lightweight and easy to carry but would have needed to be recovered as they were in prominent tropical prints. I did, however, find a few bargains on large pictures.

Im soo jealous! I can't even imagine what the one in Las Vegas would be like, as many hotels as there are there! Wow!

Viva Las Vegas Here I come. A long weekend get-away with a 14 wheeler back to Texas?

Most hotels go through a rennovation every 7 years. Yes, as Judy mentioned, I'm sure some of the stuff is just down right disgusting. But, I guess it depends on hotel and location. Florida gets a ton of tourists, not to mention spring breakers, that have been in the sun and sand all day and don't care. Even the new hotels get trashed pretty quick.

Hope some of you get to take advantage, its always fun to look!

Cindy, We don't live there (Vegas) anymore. I miss that town. We don't gamble, but I so loved the wide variety of shows. Plus sometimes the casinos like to court the locals. We used to receive coupons for free meals and the like. Things are changing now though. Strip meals are no longer the bargan they once were.

Hi,

Are there any of these Hotel Furniture outlet stores in Houston? I didn't see any on the list, and am surprised, being that Houston is such a large city. If there aren't any, where would the closest location be to Houston?
