Luxury Linens-What Are You Waiting For?

                                                       luxury bedding ivory by zaktas67

Luxury, let's face it, we all want it,  heck, that's what the whole world wants, while some wouldn't admit it, everyone loves the feeling of being pampered, wearing fine clothes, shoes, cologne, jewelry, and just about every nicetie you can think of.  But did you know sheets can make you feel like a King or Queen...for the night at least.  We spend, (or we should) an average of over 2,500 hours a year in bed.

So why not spend a little more on luxury sheets?  They are well worth it and they last forever, and you can tell the difference immediately.

Back in the 1600's most people slept on hay, and were thrilled to even have sheets.  If they did, they were passed down to them from their ancestors.

Interestingly, just having a high thread count does not mean the sheets are going to be the best.

The Europeans use the term "Hand" (the way it feels in your hands) or the finish and texture of sheets.  A high-thread-count made with cheaply made threads will not give you the ultimate sleep experience.

If you want the luxury of all luxury in sheets there is an Italian company, Sferra Bros., that make sheets who's price tags of $15,000 for 1,050 thread counts may be for the "Donald Trumps" and "Bill Gates" of the world, but there are also high-end linens that can run as low as $250.

Italians are infamous for their sheets.  If you've ever stayed at a hotel in Italy the sheets are usually pressed and of high quality.

The USA has some higher -end companies, some that are manufactured overseas, but can run from $200-500.

So do it, your worth it, think about all those restless nights, washed away by being caressed in your new "luxury linens".

A few Luxury Linen companies to check out:

  • Sferra Bros.-Italy
  • Matouk-USA
  • Yves Delorme-Paris
  • Nancy Koltes at Home-Marin County, CA & New York
  • Peacock Ally-Dallas,TX

Cindy, this is a very good post for me, as I have been shopping to upgrade our bed linens. Now I know where to look for the best. Thanks.

Cindy,  Hello - my name is Debbie and I am a sheet snob.  I don't like to be but once you sleep on a set of great sheets you can't go back.  I have found some nice sheets at Macy's - their Hotel Collection that run about $250 per sheet.  If I ever win the lotto, I am going to purchase a set of Pratesi Sheets.  For fun, I go to the linen store from time to time just to feel them.  I have a problem but I'm trying to get help.  I don't know where this sickness came from but I can't stop.

I love Yves Delorme bedding. I have my eye on a complete set...I'll have to sell something to get them!

The best cotton is Egyptian so if you can't get a good quality high thread count sheet look for it to at least be Egyption cotton. Egyption has the longest threads which gives them the 'hand' we so love!

Cindy:  I strongly recommend doing the little luxury things like this.  I have two sets of luxury sheets and could not live without them.  We all deserve a little pampering.

Cindy: I too am a sheet snob. High quality sheets also last a lot longer than sheets of lesser quality. My husband and I received a set of very good quality 600 thread count sateen sheets as a wedding present 10 years ago. We just retired them. They lasted 10 years and still looked great! They were retired only because we upgraded to a king bed from a queen.

BTW, Tuesday Morning is a great place to get high end European sheets like Delorme and Pratesi, at a deep discount. They are still pricy but so worth it.

I love fine linens and they are worth the money.  This is the set I'm eyeballing now http://www.elegantlinenspc.com/Fine-Linen-Princesse.htm  If I'm lucky, maybe Santa will be good to me this year!

Nothing says  "pamper"  like great sheets.    Love the post.

Any one who has not slept on luxury linens is really missing out.  It is one area of your life where you really should splurge on yourself.  I will never go back to regular sheets. All the brands you mentioned are carried by my favorite store http://www.elegantlinenspc.com/bed-sheet-sheets.htm.  The great thing about good quality linens is they last a very long time if you take proper care of them. You really get your moneys worth out of them.
