Our church Grace Community in Houston had Wednesday night services for one hour because of the curfew that was in effect. A lot of the staff and volunteers had been in the parking lot that was a POD location all day serving food, water, and ice to people effected by Hurricane Ike. The power was not on in the church, so they had set up some lights and musical instruments by generators. The turn out wasn't bad, considering what everyone had just been through. Towards the end we started singing "Amazing Grace" and during the chorus, the lights where we were sitting came on, we all looked around, wide-eyed, and kept singing, and then more lights and the fountain came on. Chills ran down my spine, coincidence, no way. It was around 8pm at night, and the church had full power, after being without power since Saturday.
I got to witness a very big God moment and miracle...truly "Amazing Grace"!

Cindy, When I heard Ike was headed toward Houston, I thought about "Houston's Home Stager," so I've been thinking of you. Having gone through some hurricanes myself (though nothing so bad as Ike, just Charley, Frances and Jean), I can appreciate the miracle of returning power. How wonderful that you got to experience it with your Christian family, singing one of the all-time great songs. Blessings on you and your city!
What a beautiful story. I would have loved to experience this for myself. And I hope that at that time, there were not-yet-believers, who then gave their hearts to the Lord.....
