Power Shopping For An Entire House In A Few Hours

My "youngest client", as I call him, a bachelor, recently had me stage his house and it sold within his goal of 30 days, and he was thrilled. He said "I want you to help me pick out furniture and accessories with my new house when I buy one". "Gladly, I told him"! So recently, he purchased his new home a gorgeous townhouse loaded with all the bells and whistles. He was ready to furnish it, had a budget, and wanted to make an appointment for me to come and check it out. So last night, I went over checked everything out, went over some photos with him, and he says, "lets go shopping". Ok, it's 7:30p, but why not. He knew exactly where he wanted to go and that they stayed open until 10pm. We got there, and the shopping frenzy began, we were like the old game show where people were running down the aisles throwing things in their carts before the buzzer goes off. We decided to divide and conquer, and we went our separate ways, hoping to be done by 10. I then felt like I was on the "Amazing Race" trying to figure out clues, and where the next piece of furniture was going to be located in the store. As hard as we tried we didn't finish, but got a big chunk of it taken care of. We still are not done, and he wants to go back for more, he wants everything done at once. Hmmm...I like that concept!

Isn't it fun when you get to do this type of shop?

The best time I ever accomplished a shop in was for a 3200 square foot property.

2.5 hours.

Artwork, window treatment, bedding, florals, props and accessories.

I went with the husband and wife. Husband had a pick up. We each had our own cars.

I started at the first store with the wife and two buggies. Filled those, left them at the cashier with hubby to pay for and load into truck.

Wife and I go to next store.

Repeat for 5 stores in close vicinity of each other.

Husband said that's how shopping should be done.

With clipboard in hand, a detailed list, check off what you have found, someone to pay for it and cart away.

They had been trying to pull the look of  their house together for over 10 years.

Now it was accomplished in 2.5 hours. They were pleased with the end result and I had another happy client. :)

The last week of August I had 5 vacant stagings to do and I was completely out of inventory.  That meant shopping at the rental store for the large pieces and then heading to my favorite discount stores for accessories and bedding.  In that one week I dressed 11 beds.  Fortunately, we have a domestications outlet store here in town and they were having a 40% off sale.  I made a plan for each house, and armed with my clipboard in hand, I did what I called "gorilla shopping".

Cindy, What a fun change from what we usually do!  I like everything done at once too, I want to see the end product NOW.  I get too excited about a project.  I'm impatient.
