I love all kinds of decorating styles, and have many that I like, but one of my personal favorites is Betty Lou Phillips. Her inspirations are mostly from France, Italy, England, Portugal and beyond with a Tuscan and Mediterranean feel. I've learned to love all aspects of design. Incorporating what you love is important from a decorative point of view. I tend to like most all of it, from the European trends, to the American "Pottery Barn" look.
With home staging we need to be transitional, and appealing to the demographics we are marketing to. In our own homes we can use what we love, at least I do. If I love something when I first see it, I will find a place in my home for it, and it always works. That's what makes a home so interesting, it's designed around our personal tastes, completely different from what we do everyday.
So who is your favorite designer, or who do you draw inspiration from?

Cindy ~ I agree, I have one of Betty Lou Phillips books on French decorating and remember reading an article in one of the decorating magazines about her years ago. I also like Bunny Williams and Celery(spelling?) Kimble. From television, I also like Candace Olsen; I am always amazed at the transformations from her designs.
After pondering this question for a while, I realized that I don't have a favorite designer... there are so many talented professionals out there. What attracts me to a certain design is the type of atmosphere that the room conveys. For example, some times I am drawn to a fresh, linear look with transitional furniture and a color palatte of blues, creams, and browns. Other times, I like the rich style of a French country inspired design with warm tones of gold and red. So, for me it isn't so much the artist, but the art.
One of my favorite designers is Charles Faudree's from Tulsa, OK. I love the French Country Design. I also have serveral of Betty Lou Phillips books, she's great too. I love all types of design, but French Country is my personal favorite.
Hello from the west coast of BC
I love Brian Gluckstein for his quality and decent prices. Traditional but not fuddy duddy. Alfred Sung another Canadian designer for his lamps and bedding-- great prices through Zellers in Canada. Kelly Hoppen British designer for her cutting edge contemperary ( especially loft living) but comfortable deisgn Vera Wang for her classic perfection - her china is amazing -so much to learn from these greats. And musn't forget Martha for her furniture line and home communities which she dresses for move in ready, turn key buyers. She just keeps reinventing herself. We are so lucky with the proliferation of shelter magazines we can constantly learn and be on-trend and maybe even ahead of the game.
