NBA Players Home For Sale-Too Personalized?

NBA Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade known as "Flash" has his home for sale listed at $8.9 million with 12,000 square feet in Pinecrest, Florida.  As "Flashy" as it may be, you definetley know who's house it is with his personalized murals, stone inlays in the floor and pool.  With all of the personal touches is this a tough sale, or a "I want to live where a celeb lived".  What do you think?

That is definitely a special home. For a new buyer, perhaps want to get rid of some of the murals and things that make it so personal. Just my 2 cents.

From what I see, it is an easy fix for who ever is interested in this property.  The only costly thing I see is the W on the floor but who ever purchase this home, I will doubt if they will have the money problems to fix that.  Have a great day!

Cindy - I think it is definitely too personal. But like Lorinda said most the changes look fairly easy.

This could go either way-it would be an easy fix to paint over the murals.  The rest of the house seems amazingly spare of details.

Perhaps the "W" could stand for Welcome? ;)

I think if the buyers name is Whipple, West, or Walton, or another surname that starts with a W - just a little but of finessing elsewhere could go a long way! There are some people who might get a real kick out of owning this home! However, to appeal to the masses, there needs to be some fixes.

The entry is the perfect spot for the new homeowners previous dining room area rug which would look like a door mat by comparison in this space!

It all depends on how you look at it.  I could be an "M" or a stylied "3" or it could even be an "E".

I have wondered about this as well.  I would have to speak to a Realtor on this one.  I think there are buyers who would buy for the celeb factor alone and would want to purchase "as is".  However, with that said how do you keep all the looky lou's from wanting to peak at the house.  Any Realtors that have dealt in the celeb arena for this type of thing - would like to hear what you think?  Good question!

Here in the Denver area, if you want to see a home for sale by a celebrity, you have to be pre-qualified first. That's the only way you can weed out the fans who just want a peek! And, amazingly, most of those people would not qualify for the price range! ;)

This home definitely has possibilities! If the entry floor is inlaid, just the letter needs to be replaced. If I purchased the home, I would probably leave the pool as the only reminder of the previous owner. I know a lot of little boys who would love that Spidey bath!!!! And, what's with the big tube? Is that for making deposits of criminally fat pay checks that athletes get these days?

Lovely home, yes.  But it is definitely pesonalized.  I doubt very much a super fan will purchase it, but I could be wrong.  It will be someone that most likely loves the space and will get rid of the personalization.

Definitely personalized - he's obviously been very successful! While the "W" in the foyer would be a plus for me, I may have an issue with the pool decor.  This would be a major determent for me....  Now, if it were the Phoenix Suns instead ... I might reconsider.

BTW - Did you have the opportunity to do a staging consult for them?  Just an idea - seems like they could benefit from a professional stager...  Good luck!

I think Spidey Wade dropping down from the bathroom ceiling is a bit over the top, and the mini-shrine mural could easily be toned down.

Bob & Carolin-I'll say it's special...the murals are too personalized.

Lorinda-I agree, but if I spent 8.9 million, I'd want it to be perfect.

Tanya-Oh yeah, like Lorinda said if your're spending that much, it's an easy fix.

Pam- It is a little on the sparse side to be so big.

Julianna-To me it's more appealing on the exterior, than the interior.

Pam-I know it looks huge!

Michael-I guess that's a creative way to look at it.

Sandra-Professional atheletes and rock stars tend to personalize their homes more, not sure why.

Elaine-Actually the Spidey bath is pretty cute, and that tube is probably a one-of-a kind special ordered custom made overpriced elevator.

Chris-I guess if the super fan has super money that he wants to spend!

Calie-Yes the W is perfect for you.  No, I didn't do a staging consult, the place seems really cold, not very inviting.

Rich-You mean you don't want one of those in your Master Bath?

In my experience, buyers in this price range USUALLY make over the home to their own style, even if the house is beautiful to begin with.  That elevator is a bit much though, and the only really costly thing to fix or replace would be the inlaid tile pool - but again, it's all relative to that buyers market.  But boy does he like to look at himself - lol!

Cindy, when I looked at the house- I was like DeWayne must really love himself!  Some of it was ok- but the picture of him without a shirt I could do without
Posted by Marci Toliver, Anderson SC, Spartanburg,Greenville SC, Home Staging (First Impressions ) over 2 years ago

Connie-In that price range, they usually can redo everything if they want.

Marci-Not sure what that is all about.  I guess he had his reasons.

Beautiful home.....I agree with most above....fixes look fairly superficial.

Very nice house. I definitely wouldn't mind living in it. But the house is too personalized. This house will be on the market for a while if they don't make the necessary changes to it so that it can be sold. Great post.

Not sure this one will actually ever get staged............My guess is that anybody who can afford to buy this place will more than likely be adding their own personal touches with a designer anyway.  Just a little arrogant......sheesh

Not bad looking. I have seen mich more over the top houses. Have you seen Shaq's house on Star Island in Miami Beach?
