Trends & Trendsetters

 Old World Look

Monroe Sectional

New Contemporary Look

Designer trends are forever changing as are the materials that are used.  The "Old World Look", is said to be too heavy, faux finishes and wrought iron, tons of carved stone, in interiors and exteriors are labeled as being overused and misused.  New trends show modern and cleaner lines with the use of an assortment of materials and products such as glass, minimalistic design elements, counter tops, sinks, and furniture.  Browns and pastels define the newest trend.  How long will this new trend stay, and who's creating it?

According to Luis Jauregui, architect, there are three types of categories for architects and designers.

1.  There are those that are original creators that come up with the concept.

2.  Those who identify the concept early, refine it and bring it to the mainstream

3.  Those who copy it without understanding its origin, but realizing its demand.

If you're in the first group you're not going to sell a lot of your designs.

If you're in the second group you may become a trendsetter.

And if you're in the third group you have the advantage of mass appeal from people searching to have "the look".

I personally like both looks, along with many, many others.  I do like a European influence in design, whether it be on the interior or exterior, furniture, or finishes.  I buy what I like, and enjoy being around.

Cindy ~ I was at a conference or seminar last year where the talk about trends was that once it hits the stores and everyone has access to it, the trend is on its way out.  I don't think that is totally true, because I think a lot of trends stick around so long they become classic.

Those 3 points are very well worded.  Most people fall into one of these categories.  Thanks for the reminder.  Lu

Ryan-That's a great room.

Scott-The second room is more energizing, you're right.

Richard-Sometimes, change can be a very good thing.

Kathy-True, Old World, has stood the test of time in Europe, hence the name "Old World", funny, I just realized that.

Lu-True, I think we can all fall in to a category.
