GPS-I Got One For Christmas-Update

After much hinting around, I finally ended up getting a GPS for Christmas.  Of course it was out of stock, so I just got it.   And I love it!  It is the best little device I have come across in a long time.  I can't say enough good things about it.  It does everything but drive the car.  And I didn't even want the bells and whistles, but I got em anyway.  What an amazing piece of technology.  It's right on.  And it's easy to use which is important. It has voice commands so you don't have to look at the screen which is key when your're in 6 lanes of traffic moving 75 miles an hour. This is going to be a real time saver.  It's portable, or can be mounted on the windshield or dash.  As far as I'm concerned it will pay for itself this week with all the driving I have to do.

This is the one I got and would highly recommend.  The Garmin nuvi 200.  Never leave home without it!

I gave one to my oldest son who at the age of 26 can't seem to figure out how to get around in the Seattle area. It must be those central Washington genes! Glad you like yours!!! I haven't decided to use one yet. But years ago when I first went into real estate they would have been easier than the map books!!!

Can you load a route into yours or can it optimize a route based on loaded stops?  I've been looking to get one but I need to be able to load a preloaded route which I've optimized with Microsoft Mappoint.  This is invaluable for making my driving more efficient.

Anyone have any experience with this?

You can never go wrong with a Garmin.    The newer Magellan and TomTom systems  are also quite good and the prices seem to drop with each day that passes.

 congrats on your purchase.

Cindy,  Isn't it funny how you live without something for so long, then once you get it you don't ever want to live without it again???

Hi Cindy,

I have said may times that my GPS is "my best friend."  I have a Garmin, bought it for myself for Christmas a few years ago--I am overdue in updating it though.

Hi Cindy:  I don't have a GPS, but a very good friend of mine does.  It is just incredible how lost she is without it.  So, I guess for her it is a great idea.  I am glad you finally got yours.  Enjoy !  But now you don't have any more excuses about being late.  Take care...

Cindy,

I agree with you, I have a GPS and I am pretty much lost without it. The other nice thing about it is when you do have an idea of where your going it tells you how to get there the fastest.

Hello Cindy,

I believe that everyone working in the field should have a GPS. I know that it has saved me so much time, so we have one in every vehicle that we own.

No one wants to be the "lost agent"... the gps is SO MUCH better than trusting the MLS directions (but that's a whole 'nother post altogether.

Cindy ~ I actually got mine as an early Christmas present, and blogged about mine about a month ago.  I have the same one as you; isn't it great?  I especially like it at this time of year when it gets dark earlier and I can't spot landmarks or read the street signs.

Jo-They are definetely better than maps.

Mark-I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Renee-Thanks, I'm sure their all good, I've heard those are the top ones.

I have a question about the Garmin Nuvi 200.  My research on Amazon says the 200 does not have voice. Did you get a different kind that has voice directions?  I'm in the market for one.  The 200 seems to be a very good buy on Amazon right now.

Barbara-Yes, it has voice commands, and if you miss a turn it recalculates for you.
