I have considered getting a GPS for my car. Living in Houston, the 4th largest city in the nation, driving for long amounts of time to get anywhere is expected. But finding a location is where the question lies. Mapquest, Yahoo, Rand McNally etc, etc, are not always accurate. And as fast as the hwys. change, maps are not always the best option either. I figure I've wasted just about as much gas as one costs.
For those of you that have GPS would you recommend, and if so, which one? I've noticed they even have portable ones...too many to choose from. Do I put on my Christmas list , or do I stick to a 2008 Houston Key Map?

A cheap solution might be to add an antenna and software to an existing PDA if you have one. That's what I did and it works like a champ. Wouldn't go without it. On the other hand, just check out Realtor magazine this month and there's lots of good recommendations. Another good source is Amazon.com. I find the reviews on each product extremely useful whenever I'm shopping for just about anything.
Good luck.
Where I live they are great. The only issue is when the data in the GPS is older than the roads etc...
If you buy, see if they have options to update the data.
My GPS will break in if there is traffic or an accident, construction etc...
Thanks for all the comments, I got a Garmin Nuvi and love it!
