Why hiring a professional stager to stage your Houston home before you put it on the market is extremely important. I see this frequently, sellers wait to see "what will happen." No interest or offers, then they reduce the price. I recently heard of a situation where the seller reduced their home by 30K, now that's not an easy hit.
Sharon Tara, owner of Sharon Tara Transformations home staging of the New Hampshire Seacoast, tells us why staging is the first step.

Are You Listing Your House To Sell or to Sit?
If you are in the process of preparing your house for sale, it's important you realize that YOUR actions at this point will determine the outcome.
You only get one shot at being "just listed" and it's a very short gig. If you don't grab someone's attention in the first two weeks, your chances of getting your asking price start to diminish. Once listed, a house on the market ages quickly.
The difference between multiple offers and price reductions can be a direct result of YOUR preparation.
Today's buyers want move-in ready properties. They scan MLS photos looking for well maintained houses that appeal to them both visually and emotionally. They're looking for a house that they can visualize as their home.
Many sellers invest money, time, and energy on the wrong improvements and find their house sitting instead of selling. A Home Staging Consult will show you how to prepare smart.
How you present your house, and how it measures up against the competition, is the key to appealing to buyers and the difference between making money and losing money.
A little effort now, to properly prepare your house, is well worth your time and investment.
It's YOUR choice... SELL or SIT?

Great and informative blog. I totally agree.. whenever I go on Broker's tours and I see houses without the staging and with staging its a world of difference. and even the agents themselves judge by the staging.. so your right it does make a huge difference in selling the listing or sitting the listing.. Thank you for sharing and have a great week ahead

Hosai, exactly, agents see it all the time, and form opinions as well. Sharon was spot on with her post.
Hosai, right on. ..thanks for sharing...
Staging and strategic pricing of a home will often result in a faster sale - if the Sellers can be realistic about their price.
Thanks for the reblog! Any way we can educate sellers on the preparation process is a good thing!
I wish more sellers would take the advice of a home stager. Too many homes sit for longer than they should.
Ronald your welcome Sharon did a great job as usual.
Daniel, you're absolutely right, price is a huge factor and sellers have to be realistic.
Sharon, no, thank you for writing such great info!
John, it definitely makes a difference. Just had dinner with a friend from another part of the country that said they had no offers until a stager came in and gave them recommendations. He said it sold immediately after that!
Thanks for the great reminder!!
Hi Ron, your welcome, Sharon does a great job on her blogs!
