A recycling tip for home sellers. Recently, while doing a home staging consultation, I noticed a box that the home seller was using to put old electronic gadgets in. She said she got them at Office Depot and you can fill them up with all of your old electronics. The program is provided by Office Depot and is called "Tech Recycling Service". How many of us have broken, used or outdated electronics we are holding on to? This is a great solution for getting rid of them and in return knowing that they'll actually be used for something good like making aluminum, copper, glass and plastic.
You can go to your local Office Depot and ask for either a Small ($5), Medium ($10), or Large ($15) box and load it up with as much as you can and return it to the store.
A great idea for anyone with old electronics!
This is the small box.
She had just started packing it up, she even put airline headphones and battery chargers in them.

Thanks for the green tip. I didn't realize that they offered this service.
Hi, Cindy.
Our local Landfill takes electronic recyclables for Free, but it is a long drive from town. Thanks for pointing out the Office Depot Service. I will keep this for future reference.
That is a great idea! I also have some phones I need to get rid of...I wish I could take those old photos out of them...It's an AT&T phone. Maybe I will post about it!
Jason, I didn't either. Learn something new every day.
Fred-I know some places do, but you're right it can be too far away. Office Depots are everywhere!
Sussie-I have so many things, old phones included. This is much easier!
Cindy, what a great tip! I'll be calling Office Depot tomorrow!
Hi Cindy -- that's a great tip and one that makes sense for the environment too -- thanks for letting us know about Office Depot's recycling program!
Cindy - Thank you for the detailed quality information on recycling tip for home sellers.
Peg, good I hope it helps.
Maureen, makes sense, every little bit helps!
John, you're welcome, I hope you get to use it.
Cindy, thank you for the tip, this is a great idea, and good for the environment
Cindy, thank you for sharing this. I did not know about their program, but it should prove very useful to sellers in the future.
Great information - good to know. Thanks for sharing. I'll pass it along by way of re-blog and my next client newsletter.
Thanks Cindy, didn't know about this. I have a bit of junk that definitely needs cleaning out and would prefer that they not go to a landfill.
Hi Cindy - What a great thing to know about! I've bookmarked this page for future reference. Thanks for sharing it.
What a great idea. I didn't know they offered this service. My husband is an electronic hoarder and now I know where to go when I convince him to let go of some of his stuff.
Love this idea -- will pass it on to a friend of mine who runs the Pascack Sustainability Group here in Bergen County, NJ and is always looking out for ways to help the environment. Thanks!
Love Sharon's comment about electronic hoarding...that's my husband too. It's great that Office Depot is offering this service. Since Office Depot is far away, our local recycling center also collect these items regularly.
Cindy, Best Buy takes old electronics at no charge ;-) I blogged about it a while ago
Cindy- good information. Even if some of our electronic gadgets are working, they're more than likely outdated, so why not recycle them. We still have our first MP3 players (pre-iPod) . BTW- when are you coming to FL?
Love it and we all need to be good to our Earth!
Interesting topic...
Thanks so much for posting about this, it's great to know there is an easy way to recycle tech stuff : )
Great idea, thank you! Besides, one constantly needs to get rid of some stuff, to keep the home uncluttered, whether selling or not.. It seems to be harder to get rid of stuff (so much easier to accumulate!) It helps when you know where it can go, and it's not a landfill.
Great tip. Thanks!
