Questions from Houston Home Sellers:
Hi Cindy, can you tell me if we should have our house staged before we put it on the market?
Cliff
Answer:
Yes, you should absolutely have your house staged before you list it with a REALTOR® and put it on the market. You want your home to look it's best before the real estate agent and appraiser takes a look at it. You want to get top dollar, and to do that, your home has to be show ready and appealing.
Staging your home and having it look it's best will also give you a competitive edge with much better internet photos for the multiple listing service on HAR (Houston Association of REALTOR®).
Once a home has been listed there is always more excitement, and agents will prefer showing a home that they know their clients will love. Home Staging will show potential buyers the assets and potential your home has to offer as well as the lifestyle they will envision.

Couldn't agree more. Having a professional make the home as inviting as possible will result in a much better impression. And. if it's priced right it will sell quicker.
Cindy,
Excellent advice to give a Homeseller. As you said, it will give them the competitive edge they need to stand out and make a connection with potential buyers!
Cindy- great advice for any seller... don't wait to see how it goes...take advantage of the momentum and get it staged before you list it.
Gabe, thanks, I happen to agree!
Linda, yes in todays market, it's not an option!
So true Kathy, how many times have we heard a home seller say and do that exact thing?
Cindy ~ If only more sellers would follow this excellent advice! Staging BEFORE listing, as you said, makes sure that the house is memorable in the eyes of the buyer. You just can't drag someone back to a house several weeks after they've seen it and say, "but it looks much better now" -- you have to make sure it looks great from Day One. Good post!
More great advice, the first impression is so important, stage early and take great photos
Maureen, true, buyers don't want to go back to the same house again, it should look it's best the first time.
Brian, yes, exactly, stage it first, then great photos, and grab that buyers attention.
Hey Cindy,
Great advice to Cliff about the importance. It really does make a huge difference, the feel and look of the space completely changes. It become warm and inviting, and that is the the type of atmoshpere you want to aim for :)
Laura, thanks, I think so too whether it's occupied on vacant, staging does make a house stand out!
