Lighting is essential in a home. Sounds simple enough, but the lighting you choose, sets the mood, and look of each room. From ultra bright lights to low lit dim lights, they both evoke different emotions.
Lighting is a staging must, and they must be properly placed in each room, they also, must be in proportion with everything else in the room. Have you ever seen an enormous room with tiny thin buffet lights, or a very small room dwarfed by huge lamps that were as big as the tables they were sitting on?
A great stager will know just how to use lighting to best benefit your home to accenutate features, and scale.
Try this: In the same room, use these 4 different light bulbs and see how the room changes. It's amazing the difference light makes. It affects the color of the walls and furniture.

I know you don't need to be that bright to gain an understanding of lighting in a home. Sometimes, a bulb just goes off in your head. A switch is turned on, if you will.
What about LED bulbs? While still pricey, they are even more energy efficient than CFL and will likely last longer than you own the house. From reviews and friend's advice, Advanced Lumonics currently makes the best LED bulbs available.
Kyle-Thanks for your comment. I was mostly referring to how certain types of lights change the way a room looks, or the hues it gives off.
Chris-If you're using a bulb day in and day out, (not just for staging) I'm all for energy efficient.
